How Long Should You Water Your Lawn?
Most often we run into irrigation systems that are only watering for 15-20 minutes four or five times a week. This is wasting a lot of water as well as it is not helping the turf. There are so many variables when it comes to trying to figure out how to set the right amount of time to water. The absolute best way to find out is to set up a container in each zone or sprinkler area and let it run for 30 minutes. This will tell you how much water was put down in that 30 minute time frame. Now that you know this you can adjust that zone. You are looking to get 1 inch per week of water for your lawn areas. I would break it down into 2 days. Half inch one day and the other half inch a couple of days later. You are looking to soak the ground as deep as you can to help promote root growth.
