Our Professional Lawn Treatment Program
At Green Acres Lawn Care & Landscaping Group, our comprehensive lawn fertilization and weed control program includes six strategic treatments throughout the year. Each treatment is performed by a licensed technician who understands the science of effective fertilization. For each treatment, one of our experienced technicians will visit your property and spend 15 minutes to an hour (depending on the size of your yard). They’ll apply each treatment and check the health of your lawn, identifying potential issues and adapting your program accordingly.
Our program provides balanced nutrients throughout the year: nitrogen for strong color and top growth, phosphorus for root development, and potassium for disease resistance and water retention.
In the Midwest, weeds can be a persistent challenge throughout the growing season. Grassy weeds, such as crabgrass and foxtail, often pop up in early spring. Meanwhile nutsedge becomes more common during the summer. Broadleaf weeds, such as dandelions and clover, also can become a nuisance.
To stay ahead of these invasive plants, we use proactive, whole-lawn applications designed to prevent weeds before they take root. If any weeds do appear, we follow up with targeted spot treatments. Before each service, your Green Acres technician will thoroughly assess your lawn to address any current issues and prevent conditions that promote weed growth—helping your lawn stay lush and weed-free all season long.
Our Annual Lawn Treatment Schedule
Early Spring Treatment (Round One)
This treatment applies a balanced granular fertilizer blend with crabgrass control and micro-nutrients to enrich the soil. It helps control crabgrass, nourishes the grass root system, and encourages a quick spring green-up. When weather allows, we also apply weed control to manage early weed growth.
Spring Treatment (Round Two)
We use a granular fertilizer blend with crabgrass control and micro-nutrients, along with a liquid broadleaf weed control. This treatment feeds the grassroots, enhances the lawn’s color, and effectively controls broadleaf weeds.
Summer Treatment (Round Three)
This treatment includes slow-release granular fertilizer and spot-applied liquid broadleaf weed control. It improves lawn color, manages summer annual weeds, and increases the lawn’s tolerance to heat and drought stress.
Late Summer Treatment (Round Four)
We apply slow-release granular fertilizer and spot-treat with liquid broadleaf weed control during this round. This treatment improves the lawn’s color, targets stubborn summer weeds, and enhances its resilience to heat and drought. Round Four also contains an organic soil conditioner, which helps the grass take in more nutrients and improves root development.
Early Fall Treatment (Round Five)
This treatment combines granular fertilizer with micro-nutrients and a liquid broadleaf weed control. It helps the lawn recover from summer stress, improves its health, and removes broadleaf weeds for a cleaner appearance.
Late Fall Treatment (Round Six)
This final treatment uses a dormant granular fertilizer to stimulate root development. It prepares the lawn for winter and ensures a lush, green start in early spring.

Professional Lime Treatment
Lime is essential for balancing the pH of acidic soils, improving lawn health, and enhancing the effectiveness of other treatments.
Lime reduces acidity, preventing “fertilizer lock-up,” which can leave grass thin, yellow, and unresponsive to nutrients. It also promotes better lawn health, including improved color, density, and root development, while helping control thatch.
For acidic soils, annual liming ensures your lawn can fully benefit from fertilizers and maintain a lush, green appearance. By balancing your soil’s chemistry, lime treatments enhance every aspect of your lawn’s health and beauty—ensuring your property truly shines!
Gypsum Treatment
Gypsum is beneficial for soils with poor drainage or excessive compaction, commonly found in clay soils. It helps break up compacted soil, allowing for better water infiltration and root development. Additionally, gypsum can mitigate soil erosion and improve nutrient availability to plants.
